Weather-Resistant Stickers for Demanding Applications
We manufacture weather-resistant stickers suitable for long-term use from polymeric vinyl film, which withstands even the harshest weather conditions. A glossy or matte, transparent laminate is applied over the print surface to protect it from UV radiation and mechanical wear. As a result, the colors remain vibrant for years without fading, and neither rain nor washing can wear them down. This method is used to produce weather-resistant PVC stickers, commonly referred to as vinyl stickers. PVC stickers remain the most durable material, ensuring the long life of the sticker.
Where Can Weather-Resistant Stickers Be Used?
As the name suggests, weather-resistant stickers are designed for environments where variable weather conditions may expose them to heavy stress. UV radiation from the sun is the most damaging factor for stickers. The protective laminate works like sunglasses, minimizing the damage from UV rays and significantly extending the sticker’s lifespan. The laminate also protects against dirt and abrasion. Weather-resistant stickers are therefore always a worthwhile investment, especially for outdoor use.
Below is a list of materials that endure time, weather, heat, and cold:
- PVC Stickers (Polyvinyl Chloride): The advantage of PVC stickers is their excellent UV resistance. Therefore, we use vinyl stickers when the sticker’s lifespan is intended to be long-term and subject to weather conditions. If the adhesion surface has variable shapes, vinyl film should definitely be used, as it is one of the most flexible plastics. The operating temperature range depends on the quality, ranging from -40°C to +110°C.
- PES Stickers (Polyester): We manufacture polyester stickers when a durable and heat-resistant sticker is required. The operating temperature range for polyester stickers is from -40°C to +225°C, depending on the quality. The advantage of polyester stickers is their minimal thermal expansion or shrinkage. Our selection also includes silver polyester stickers (3M 7983), with a matte silver surface, making them ideal for machine plate solutions. Additionally, the surface of the silver polyester has a coating that allows marking with a pen.
- PVC-Free Stickers: In some cases, fire regulations prevent the use of vinyl. For those situations, we produce stickers from PVC-free films.
What Types of Weather-Resistant Stickers Can You Order from Tarra-Tac?
PP Sticker (Polypropylene):
The operating temperature for polypropylene ranges between -30°C and +90°C, depending on the grade. PP can be melted and reused or burned as an energy source.
PE Sticker (Polyethylene):
Polyethylene is the most affordable and widely used plastic in the world. It has good chemical resistance, except to strong acids. Most plastic containers are made of PE. When using polyethylene as an adhesive surface, a special adhesive is required because the surface of PE plastic is slippery. The operating temperature ranges between -30°C and +80°C, depending on the grade. We also produce BS5609 certified stickers from this material for maritime use.
PVC Sticker (Polyvinyl Chloride):
The main advantage of PVC stickers is their superior UV resistance. Vinyl stickers are used when a long lifespan is required, and they are exposed to the elements. When the adhesive surface is irregular, it is advisable to use vinyl stickers as they are the most flexible among plastics. The operating temperature range for PVC stickers is between -40°C and +110°C, depending on the grade.
PES Sticker (Polyester):
We produce polyester stickers when a tough plastic is required with high heat resistance. The operating temperature ranges between -40°C and +225°C, depending on the grade. The advantage of polyester stickers is their minimal thermal expansion or contraction. We also offer silver polyester stickers (3M 7983), whose matte silver surface is ideal for machine labeling solutions. Additionally, the surface of the silver polyester has a coating that allows for marking with a pen.
PU Sticker (Polyurethane):
A highly flexible plastic material suitable for applications with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +80°C.
PVC-Free Stickers:
For certain applications where fire regulations prohibit the use of vinyl, we manufacture stickers using PVC-free films.
